Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.

Pain ongoing

Hi all well when I was away I had a day when my stomach didn't flare up,then next day it would. I was given all the wrong foods really. One evening I just drank some water and I felt it below my oesophaghus. My stomach really hurt with the pain increasing at night. I also got reflux. The next day was ok then it came back with a vengence. It hurts really bad now. When I got back home I found a letter from the gastro. He says that I won't be getting the Nissen fundoplication op as I have no excess reflux. I don't understand why the test didn't show it up when I had reflux during the test and bad pain. I know a lot of the pain is my gastritis. Do you get reflux with gastritis then? I have a hiatus hernia. I don't know whats going to happen now. Its so painful and it won't get better. Its bad pain nearly every day now. Ive suffered for over two years with my stomach. When will it end? I know I will have to be careful of what I eat. When I was with inlaws I ate what I was given and some of it wasn't good for it. I will have to hang on though its hard. I hope Gregs not really bad. I get reflux with the gastritis . Especially if i over eat or eat the wrong things. With the Holidays the food was not what I would normally eat . By Christmas day I had pain , nausea and lots of acid. Plus just the stress of preparing for Christmas was making me feel sick.

I so hate that we are all in this situation and times of joy are turned to agony and heartache. I made it through Christmas ok. My mum bakes my vegies in a seperate pan from those with onions etc and the dressing was Cas friendly.
I had a flare up over New Year and don't know why so a lot of tears have fallen. If I try something new I'm prepared for possible pain but when it comes from nowhere its just awful. My heart goes out to both of you with your pain. I pray we find an end to this soon and live 'normal' lives again.

I too pray this ends soon for all of us . I didn't have a great today either . Had the burn off and on . I see the gastro Thursday . I dread it and I think me being upset over the appointment is making my stomach worse . I feel like i've aged so much with this illness.
I just wish my prayers would be answered and my stomach would heal.

I'm there with all of you, and wishing the best for everyone.

I'd been doing great for a couple of months, and was working hard to be careful over the holidays. However, trying a few new things (that seemed fine) and having a little too much of some other things set me back a bit as of today.

Proof again that my gastro is right about how slowly I need to take things. Sigh.

I have been painfree since i went off the PPI 3 weeks ago and i can eat way better ,but as soon as i eat a lil to much of "regular" food i get nauseated....so i know im not over this just yet just getting better very slowly ,but thats ok as long as we all getting there :)

It took me nearly a year to gain back some of the foods I used to eat before and I am still working on it. Have patience. Remember your body has been through a lot and it will continue to be tender for a while even after the gastritis is gone.
