My pain is there 24/7 - it gets worse at points but is never not there. It certainly makes me feel miserable aswell. Take care

At first, for me, the pain was constant. Even with the medications. It helped lessen when I altered my diet, lowered my stress (this is key because stress pulls the blood flow away from the GI organs adding to the inflammation) and when I started to heal. As you heal, it will get less on and more off, but it isn't something that takes over instantly and it does take a long time (assuming of course you are not chronic- then it is more of a learning to avoid your triggers to lower the pain and keep it at bay). Either way, I know it hurts now and this plays horrible mind games with you in the long and short run, but just hang in there. It will be okay.

I believe it got started by h pylori and the awful antibiotics. Some of the symptoms I didn't have until going through the treatment..

hi and welcome. My pain was 24/7 in the early stages but now its only if I eat too much or have a food reaction. Are you eating smaller meals frequently. This helps and try not to be too active until your tummy has settled after eating. Don't lay down for at least an hour or two depending on how settled you are. NEVER bend over. Always slide up and down if you have to.Anxiety is as big an issue as any food you'll eat. I've had this for 7 1/2 months and mostly my days are good in terms of pain. Hormones throw things for a loop and make life hard but then it settles again.

I didn't have H pyori, but I have heard it is really hard to get through. And the antibiotics never help. Hopefully healing will come quickly for you then- if it is not chronic. If the medicine is working, just go with it for now and see what happens. Because of the antibiotics though and being on some acid suppression medication, keep an eye out for c. diff symptoms, just in case. That is where i got caught up. I started with the gastritis (now healed) but had continued lower GI pain which turned out to be a colon infection- it feels almost like gastritis, is contained by the same diet, but is a dickens to get rid of. Hopefully though, fingers crossed, like I said- the worst stage is where you are at now but it does get better. I promise.

Another thing to avoid is wearing tight clothing - I found jeans a bugger to wear and all of my bras - had to go braless many times and just "bob about".

Try ones that don't have underwire or sportas bras, when you feel good enough to anyway.

if i wore my jeans now they wouldn't be snug at all...they'd fall right off me. LOL I live in wrap around clothing and Thai fisherman's pants.That way you can adjust them for comfort and loose is best.

Well soretum, that's a newey for me - what on earth are Thai fisherman's pants, I only know Thai Curry !!!!!!! LOL.

def the pain is there 24/7 never has it been just on and off. I could always feel it and burping like a mad woman and bloat and wake up with nausea like a pregnant woman or something!

best is to google Thai fisherman's pants. soooo comfy. At least when I lost all my weight I could carry on with most of my normal clothes. I've been addicted to them for years now. Winter or summer I'm wearing them.

Yoga pants are great also. In fact, loose pj's pants for when you are just cruising around the house work best. I think I lived in my pj's for four months whenever I was home. It was fantastic!

Thanks for all your reply's. I hate that so many have this pain as much as I do, but it's nice not to be alone.

I go back to my GI doc on Monday and hope he will give me some different meds to try and not some scary test. He is uncertain about where my gastritis (he just calls it inflammation).is coming from. I think it might be from the h pylori and the treatment for it that is very harsh.

Going to have to look up those Thai fisherman pants they sound great.

Don't worry about the treatment or the tests. I have lived through the scariest year of my life, packed with medication and tests and even though it is still going on- I made it. Once you are on this journey, you are in it for the long haul no matter where it leads or what it takes. And when you are weak, you will find you have the strength to carry on even though you never thought you would. It is an amazing journey. No matter what, stay positive. And remember every visit, every test, every treatment is a step forward- even if all it does it get you a little closer to figuring out what you really are dealing with or to eliminate a medication that is not working.
