Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
Changing PPI is a bit difficult as in the interim your symptoms will get worse, so no reason to switch unless you really feel its not working.
What dose are you taking? There could be the option to increase it, or upgrade to esomeprazole/Nexium.
Stress management techniques would probably help you more than a stronger ppi.
Risk vs Benefit
Without a ppi I'll die of perforated ulcer anyway, so yes, I'll take my chances, thanks.
I recently experimented coming off the ppi & onto 450mg Zantac, but the brain fog, headaches & aching joints meant I couldn't function or enjoy living... but other people are "fine" on a H2 blocker instead of a ppi.
I love Lansoprazole & Lansoprazole loves me.
You can take Calcium Citrate supplements if you are worried, these do not need acid to be absorbed by the body. But be careful, I find it quite irritating to my stomach.

I think it's important to keep it in context - other risk factors play a huge part like whether you are elderly, obese & a smoker.
I'm sure you can have blood tests etc if you think you're at risk.
