Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.

At a nutrition supplement seminar today, I learned how healing omega 3 oils are for the stomach. I have been taking lots of salmon and flax seed oil for a month and my gastritis is almost healed (I think--I no longer have pain and I can eat much more normally but I do feel a gnawy feeling if I eat too much) and the acid reflux is significantly better. I had attributed the success to the other supplements I'm taking. I was taking the salmon and flax seed oils to heal the myelin sheath around my nerves, but I am now thinking that the salmon oil and flax seed oils have definitely been a major factor in the rapid healing. I know some people can't tolerate salmon oil, but if you take it with protein that helps a lot and if you absolutely can not tolerate fish oil, flax seed oil has almost the same benefits. I did find online that there are fish oil supplements made for people with acid reflux. However, I don't know how good the quality is. Olive oil also helps healing of the stomach, but I don't know how to take it as a supplement.

I take a prescription Omega 3 called Lovaza I take four 1g capsules a day. Has helped me and I keep them in the refrigerator no after taste or burping.

Thanks for this information. Do you know how omega 3 act on stomach ? Is this a direct action or a differed one ? I know O3's are good for anxiety and stress disorder so if you feel better, more relaxed, it could be that gastrtitis goes away as a consequence. What do you think ?

Over the counter fish oils are not pure that is why I am on the prescription one, and it doesn't give me any side effects like the OTC ones do. Our body needs the omega 3 and it helps with our brain function too...if gastritis is from stress then it could help. But if it is because you are on a poor diet then that won't help you...you need to eat a diet that won't upset your stomach and prob stay away from alcohol too.

I take GNLD. It is a very good brand. It was recommended by my homeopath who helps people with cancer with it . He had brain cancer when he was 23 and was sent home to die because he refused chemo. He changed his diet and started taking supplements and was healed. Now, 35 years later he has tons of patients that he has helped heal and many of them with cancer. I got to see some of them the other night. One man has a type of leukemia that doesn't kill you but causes your immune system to be so compromised that you end up dying from those things. He said he was told to go on chemo and he went to this homeopath instead and 18 months later he is living healthy with his leukemia in remission. When he first got sick the homeopath had him on 20 salmon oil pills a day among other things. There are 8 different omega 3 oils that our bodies need and this salmon oil has all of them.

wow that is really interesting....I never dismiss homeopathic ways....you never know....I have seen to many people endure chemo and radiation with no help to keep them alive longer with some quality of life....so if this works more power to them! TY for the info

I thought it was interesting that you got a prescription for an Omega 3. I didn't even know they would prescribe that. That's wonderful--and the sort of thing that should be prescribed by doctors more commonly:)
