Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
I struggled more with the oils a few months ago, but don't seem to have trouble with them now, though maybe they're not for everyone. I believe at least the fish oil is considered an anti-inflammatory, at least by some doctors.
But honestly, I have to say I don't know much about them. Living in a cold, dry climate many months of the year, I would think they would help with that, too--lubricating the skin and such, and I wonder if they don't soothe the stomach lining too. Does anyone know?.
I have tried a walnut once or twice in the past month and chewed it up VERY well, but I was afraid to try any more. Sort of a chicken, I guess! I have learned to try to incorporate 'new' foods or drinks on a very very small amount basis. Otherwise, I would 'pay for it' big time the next day, if things didn't go well, with more pain and inflammation. I'm sure you know what I mean.
I really should read up more on the Omega oils. As I said, just a guess, but one would think they would be helpful for gastritis.
Hope you are doing okay!
Oh--I love to try new lotions, and the ones you listed sound good! :)
This is an interesting article; however, I know it was posted that someone's doctor said fish oil is BAD for gastritis. I do take it as I said, though, and for me, I've had no problems so far.
This is also interesting, though of course, we have to be very careful of 'advice' online and elsewhere. You just never know for sure. I always prefer to check with my GI doc.
I can't say specifically if it as helped as I have been taking other herbs & supplements too (acidophilus probiotic, slippery elm, zinc carnosine, L-glutamine). Also a herbal tea blend from my herbalist that contains licorice etc. I know everyone seems to develop their own routine & range of diet & supplements that works well for them. Apart from my latest flare up, this has been working well for me.
I'm about to try adding some mastic gum capsules into my routine, so will see how that goes.
Aloe Vera juice just caused me pain & burning, but I think it was the citric acid in it. Still considering the Aloe Vera gel if I can find some without the citric acid.
