Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.

I think they should have given you a medicine to help. Minimally, carafate will coat your stomach and give it time to heal. I use herbs to help mine- slippery elm.
But try the different OTC things too. There's many to choose from in the Tums aisle.
Anyways...another question. Although i have not been given any meds, I have been trying things like Zantac or Tagamet since I've been getting regular nausea after eating (even if just a couple small bites). These do help....so....doesn't this indicate that there is infact some kind of acid imbalance in my stomach? My doctor didn't prescribe PPI, but did say that he would if I wanted to try it (as we're going away for a few days and I want to be able to eat!). Any thoughts on a PPI? When these issues arose initally, my GP did give me Tecta and it helped with nausea (but then got other symptoms like burning and pain after eating...which could have just been part of it all)
What do you mean about staying away from peelings? You mean to take the peel off an apple, etc? I do have an apple everyday and this seems to be ok. I have been avoiding citris though.
What do you mean by "Jello" is good?
Zantac did seem to help a bit. Would this be better than tecta? I do have a prescription for it from my rheumatologist in case I decide to try taking celebrex again (i.e. my GI didn't prescribe it)
