Settle in for the long haul. start eating cooked, soft, bland foods even when you feel fine. Eating is trial and error. Get some Zinc Carnosine and take it on an empty stomach. Stay hydrated. You are on the right track with supplements but you may want to get some more tests done to see if there is an identifiable cause. Also look at medications or environment that may have contributed. Diet is key! I can not stress that enough. I am suffering with gastritis since September last year and it has been a rotten couple of months. Was on nexium for 4 months which didnt do much for me. I have tried slippery elm, dgl, and zinc carnosine which help some what. I am still using zinc carnosine but stop using the others. The only thing that got me out my lowest point to feeling some what normal was sucralfate (carafate). Was feeling fine for the last 2 months but got a flare up yesterday from eating too much almonds (silly me). My best advice is to try to prepare your food as bland and soft as possible. Stay away from spicy, fried, acidic, too much salt and sugar and eat small frequent meals. With the proper diet and medication you should be fine but keep in mind that u wont heal overnight so have patience. I am back on sucralfate because i messed up. Hang in there. All the best

I'm 66 female and have gastritis and really suffering right now. I also have slight eyesight problems and trying to read sometimes, all the words mesh together. If you can help me by listing the medication/supplements that will help me, omygosh maybe it will be my godsend. I read that medicine like omeprazole has terrible side effects, like Alzheimer's , which is in my family. That's really terrifying. Anyway, being at my wits end, I'm desperate. Hi Daphne, The stomach and the liver work together to digest food. Sometimes if the gallbladder/liver is not working the stomach will try to compensate by making more acid which can sometimes lead to gastritis. Sometimes Blurry vision is a side effect of gastritis because our body is having trouble breaking down the nutrients which can make more work for the liver as well.

so sorry to hear about you suffering with this awful condition. I have been dealing with it for nearly 2 years now! It's a lot better but I still have problems. The only way I really got any better was with nexium ( I tried omeprazole and lansaprazole and zantac but had really bad side effects) I blanded down by diet but did eat lean meat and fish, non acidic fruits and plenty of veg, Be careful with too much veg as it make you run to the loo a lot!! I was on nexium for 7 months. The only symptoms I have now is this really weird ache that comes on straight after eating and it's always around the umbilicus area. like a niggling ache...some times lasts minutes sometimes lasts hours...I am trying to find out if it's a nerve pain or not...can't see how it could be acid as it's too low down!!. What symptoms are you having ATM? have you had an endoscopy done? let me know and I'll try and help. Anyone else have this weird nerve pain around belly button area?? Prays to all :)
