Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
If it wasn't your GI doc, I'd be skeptical. I'm not familiar with that drug at all but my doc also initially prescribed me and appetite stimulant (cyproheptadine) and it didn't work.
Trust me, your appetite will come back when you heal your gastritis or it begins to heal. There is no shortcut.
The only thing that I found to get me to eat was motivation and patience during meal times. Your stomach won't hurt any less (in my experience) just because your on an appetite stimulant. The inflammation will still be an issue.
However if your stomach is still so damaged that you don't want to eat at all, you should perhaps just start with the simple path of oatmeal, mashed potatoes, eventually graduate to mashed egg or baked salmon, etc.
And taking PepZin GI of course.
