Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
Good luck in finding out what is bothering you. You might try a gluten free alcohol next time you drink, see if you still feel so bad after drinking.
I wouldn't think about drinking again until your symptoms have gone without the need for drugs. Stick to the bland diet for now and sip water if the burning gets bad.
Anxiety can increase stomach acid as well as heighten pain sensitivity in general, so its important to try and keep it under control, though it is obviously hard when you are suffering and have a lot of strange new symptoms. I find relaxation tapes help, things like progressive muscle relaxation.
