Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.

Hi, mi name is Sara. I am 22 years old, and i had these gastritis like symptoms for almost a week and a half now.

I know it hasn't been that long, but I am already tired of it. I went to the doctor last monday, and they didn't tell me exactly what was going on, they just gave me some Sucralfate and Zantac, and told me that it could take up to a month to get better.

I arrived to the colcusion that it all started because of the high doses of medicine that I had taken lately, and that the last round of steroid knocked my stomach out for good.

The pain is persistant, I lost around 6lb the first 3 days, and now it seems to have settled. I went from 121lb to 110lb from last Saturday. I just couldn't get my self to eat much.

I know probably most of my pain and problems is due to my anxiety, which doesn't really help. But I have been very moody since when all of this started, and I wanted to ask if some of you has had any mood troubles with Zantac or Sucralfate before.

Also, I wanted to ask if any of you has ever tried Spirulina. I used to take it before all of this mess started, and besides the awful taste it does help with a lot of things. I tried to look it up, but not much came out. I was just curoius to know if this "magical" algea has some more hidden powers to it.

Hi Sarah, Darrell. I have chronic ibs/ gastritis. It just put me in the hospital twice! I really need a new diet planner. Lol

Hi Sara. I'm sorry to hear of your pain. No doubt the medications (steroids) put you in this position. I was diagnosed with Hpylori last September and was put on the triple therapy antibiotics for two weeks. My doctor did not once encourage I also arm myself with a good probiotic. I took a useless probiotic only because a friend of mine suggested it. I say useless because it was an old bottle that probably lost its effectiveness while sitting in my cabinets for who knows how long. After the antibiotics, I just did not feel right. My stomach fell raw. The soonest appointment I could get to a GI doctor was 5-6 weeks later. In the meantime, I did a lot of research and used natural supplements that are known to help with GI issues. I was seen by the GI doctor on 10/25/16. He gave me an RX with four refills for Omeprazole and scheduled me for an endoscopy on 12/1. I took the Omeprazole a total of 15 days and then stopped after reading terrible reviews....either people who were on it for years and couldn't get off of the PPI's or people like me who were on them for a very short time and did not want to mask the problem with prescriptions. Luckily, my endoscopy went well. I was diagnosed with gastritis....inflammation of the stomach lining. Biopsy was fine I was told a week later. I was basically sent on my way and told to continue the Omeprazole. That's it. I continued my natural supplements and then made it my mission to find a holistic/naturapathdoctor. No, its not covered by insurance. I've had my good days where I don't even think of my stomach and then the not so good days when I put my guard down and either eat or drink something that doesn't agree with me. Either way, I am grateful and optimistic for a full recovery. My heart goes out to anyone dealing with any kind of GI issue. If you haven't already, I would recommend Aloe Vera Gel (the drinking kind). Take 2 TBSP 2-3 times a day. I find that it's very soothing. My preferred brand is the Lakewood Organic. You can mix it with a couple of ounces of your favorite juice.

Hi Sara, What were your symtoms? did you have alot of nausea after meal with the gastitis? I dont have alot of pain but this annoying nausea after meal and mornings and pretty much comes and go all days.
