Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
But I would try giving different PPI's a one week trial. I usually notice the PPI taking effect after 24 hours but just to be sure. Protonix just might not be for you.
Also, might be worth giving Licorice DGL, slippery elm, or Pepzin GI a try if PPI therapy continues to provide no therapeutic benefit.
And yes, acid reflux is common with gastritis.
I had it daily for months and I think that is what led to my diagnosis.
Once the reflux is under control, you are on your way to healing.
Just be sure not to let it get out of hand and to limit stress as much as possible.
