Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
If so, put 1/4 tsp in some warm water and drink it (like tea).
Ginger works better than any med for nausea, they now give it to the astronauts instead of the meds.
You can add some sugar to taste.
Ginger ale is not the same, the bubbles hurt and there isn't enough ginger....
It's a really strange nausea sensation though, it doesn't feel like my stomach is upset, it feels like my esophagus is very irritated and makes me feel like puking. I have chronic reflux but its usually just heartburn not this nausea sensation which is so intolerable. I thought it was the antibiotics but I finished them 4 weeks ago and haven't recovered yet :(
have you tried marshmallow root tea? slippery elm? both will coat your esophagus, maybe soothe what sounds like spasms....n
Going to go to the Dr today and ask for something. On top of all this my gf told me yesterday that she wants to break up as she can't bear seeing me so ill anymore. That's just making me feel even worse now :(
I have been on Promitathene, was on that a long time, stopped working and dried me out so bad, all these you need to drink lot's of water b.t.w. which is hard, then the ER gave me Zofran, which rally worked good, nothing like it, but it's bad on liver long term, so went to the G.I. doc and he gave me reglan. This has helped me a lot, but i have gastritis, so i have to eat many tiny meals. The last med i mentioned has helped me more than anything and it work's on the first day, at least for me, and it's a fast acting, moves out of you're body quickly, which is good for you're organ's, like liver and kidney's. I hope this has helped at least a little, hope you find something that help's you. I feel you're pain. P.S. everyone is different of course. This is what has worked for me.
Gentle Hug's to you.
I have domperidone which is a bit like Reglan, I think I'll start using it regularly again and see if it helps.
I tried the peppermint oil and that didn't help at all, in fact I felt worse the day after.
Has your nausea resolved now? What helped it most long term?
let me get it right- METOCLOPRAMIDE-5mg's and it has really helped let's call it MAKING THING'S MOVE THREW FASTER and it really helps w/ nasia also. Also i was on PROMITHAZINE for many yrs and it seemed to work, then it just didn't, actually i got worse and needed something stronger, keep loosing weight, Having Gastritis attack's really bad. Got the Zofran from the ER. Had to go 2 times in 3 months. thought i was dying. It worked sooo good. Q- Have you seen a G.I. doc yet? Hope this helped and i am not a professional, just what worked for me, and i have to eat slow, very slow and tiny meals, driving me crazy trying to figure what to eat, but i do hope some of this info help's. This is just my story, Check w/ a REAL professional first Please.
Hope you feel better, sorry, bad speller.
Gentle hug's to you..
I think I will go to the Dr tomorrow and specifically ask for Zofran, i just want something that i can take once in a while even, just when i need a break from the nausea. In fact i would cope mentally much better if i knew i had some drug in my cabinet that helped it, even if i didnt use it every day. I'm not sure they realise how bad I am and how quickly I'm losing weight. I also barely drink. I have to almost force feed myself because I get horrible stomach pains if I don't eat for too long. But I get no enjoyment out of eating and just feel this lump in my throat constantly making me want to vomit.
Gentle hug's to you
Please keep me posted as i will you my friend.
I wish their were more suggestions for the nausea. I end up in bed with a heating pad on my stomach, which does work in 1/2 to an hour. The slow heat makes my stomach area relax, slowly. I do the same thing almost everyday, waiting for something to ease or stop the nausea. I never vomit. But I have to use the heating pad several times a day. The docs just keep giving me nausea drugs. I also have to force myself to eat. My gastritis is very mild, but after 4 years of this I just don't care to eat any longer.
Do you find it hard remembering all the times good food and getting together with people was? I'm afraid I can't go out much and definitely don't eat out. It has really changed my social life.
Hope you get some answers.
I'm on Mirtazapine for anxiety and depression, it it also supposed to be an anti nausea medication so don't know whether I would be feeling even worse without that. The reglan seems to be helping a bit but the difference is pretty small. I seem to have seen some minor improvement this week compared to last so hopefully it is getting better. I'm definitely not taking oral antibiotics ever again.
I have a heating pad which I use from time to time but tbh it doesn't feel like my stomach is a problem, its my esophagus that feels very irritated and makes me feel sick.
Prob better you don't take the Zofran, wish i never did, only have one liver, but you did say you feel little better on the reglan? Mine took a day or so but i have had great result's from this med. supposed to take 3 but i only take 2. took 3 the other day and it made me agitated, Now this is just me, we are all different, like snow flakes.
I am always nervous anyway. Plus i am on lot's of med's. Glad you are feeling a little better.
Gentle snow flack Hug's to you my friend.
