Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
im sorry u got to suffer so much with this . Maybe u should leave the pop and the juice alone, and just drink water and maybe some camomille tea for a while. I still dont touch any juice or anything else i stick with water and tea , somedays i drink some warm milk with some honey in it.... I did find that Sucralfate helps good with the gastritis pain and i think it helps with the acid too, i took one before i went to bed to help with the acid but Gaviscon didnt really do anything for me it only helped for about 30 min and the pain came back . I hope u be better soon ...
However, it took a few months of healing, as I said. For a while, I would not have dreamed of eating this, and would have stuck with my very bland diet.
Have you been diagnosed what the cause is for your gastritis?
Gastritis is inflamation of the stomach, bacteria is usually the cause but there are other conditions such as bile reflux, damage from use of strong pain killers, etc.. The outcome is the same in all cases, damage to the mucosal lining of the stomach.
To help with this you need to heal the stomach. The stomach is wildly inflammed so you need to first bring the inflammation down and reduce acid damage to give the stomach a chance to heal. This involes eating more alkalizing, anti inflamatory foods e.g, salmon with steamed vegetables. Find a few foods that dont give you any symtoms, for me it's salad, avacardo, poached eggs, the above and potatoes with tuna mayanaise etc. Grains make my symtoms worse, so wheat, pasta, white rice is off the menu for me. While your stomach is inflamed it would be wise to avoid dairy products which will make you produce more acid. Rice milk is a good alternative.
In the morning lemon juice in hot water, with a slice of ginger and very small pinch of cayenne pepper does a great job of settling the stomach.
