Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
Nina...I can check out Prelief as well. Thanks.

I've recently found a trick to make it easier on my stomach. I ran out of sugar so I grabbed the powdered sugar. I used that for 3 days and noticed my stomach was much better than when I used granulated sugar. I read the powder sugar bag and noticed it was made with sugar and corn starch. The starch must coat my stomach like the slippery elm powder does:)
I drink 5 to 6 cups a day. I know that's foolish but I have cut down. I was 8-9 a day prior to 2007 when I got my gastritis. I do make it weak and I also use 4-5 tbs of extra rich powder creamer.
Had no idea about arabica beans being less acidic. Am impressed that you are able to drink 5-6 cups. I stick to one cup a day...mind you, my mug at work is quite large. Am definitely goign to look at getting these lower acidic ones.
I tend to use stevia in my coffee, but interesting about the powdered sugar.
I looked on the Prelief's website and found Prelief at Walgreen's pharmacy near me. Here is a link to the locations throughout the U.S.:

I went to Walgreen's today and bought a bottle of it. It was about 13 U.S. dollars for 120 pills. I'm going to try it tonight.
It does not say anything about aluminum on the bottle, so I went to their website and realized I was at Prelief.net:
http://www.prelief.net/
and they do list aluminum, but the website that the store locations are listed at appears to be their official website for the AkPharma who makes it and they don't list the ingredients, but they do have a toll free number, so I'm going to call Monday and find out what the deal is. It's probably not a big deal, but I'm just curious.
PS - I looked at the coffee I make at work and it says 100% Arabica beans, so that's good as at least I'm already drinking that when in the office.
So my husband was in the States and he picked up some Prelief for me. Question though...the bottle states that it's for bladder issues. So is it ok to take for gastritis (there is a mention of heartburn too but that's almost secondary). Also, is it ok to take if also taking PPI?
