I too had an endoscopy and the procedure itself was quite easy, yes, I did also have sedation. My Dr also said that it was mild chronic gastritis and I had already been started on PPI for about 2 weeks now... My discomfort has been less, but that damn sensation of a gas bubble or ping pong ball is still under my left rib. My pylori was negative... he said that I would need to be on the PPI indefinitely until he was comfortable that all was good and then it will be weaning off process for things to adjust, and not to have a cold turkey stop with the PPI. What kind of pain did you have ? Can you describe it for me please ?

Hi glad it went well for you! I had an endoscopy over a week ago too and also asked to be sedated...didn't feel a thing! I have gastritis and was told to continue taking PPI for the next 6-8 weeks...I've started eating better but today not feeling so good...irritation in my stomach..just had chamomile tea.....having anxiety doesn't help at all...im taking sertraline and diazepam for my anxiety.....side effects are awful...doctor said they should calm down in a week or so...hope they do!

At least if it is H Pylori you have a starting point. I have been tested for everything under the sun and everything has come back negative. I hope you find relief!

It took nearly 6 months before having the endoscopy, my symptoms at the beginning were sickness (just couldn't eat hardly anything lost a stone), then bloating and general stomach aches and I ached all over,almost flu like feeling. Then it changed after about 3 months to that horrible gnawing pain under ribs, waves of nausea in the mornings ,a stomach ache straight after I ate anything (didn't matter what I ate), and a LOT of bad indigestion.I have been on the PPI for 5 weeks and do feel better, but definitly not right, still get a lot of acid pain and gnawing and slight stomach ache after eating but not quite so severe now. Sometimes after eating I get a what feels like a' heavy rock in stomach ' sensation, I'm wondering if this due sometimes to the PPI and low acid trying to digest food. Also still get the horrible morning nausea that's the worse symptom by far. I'm wondering how long this will all last, I suppose it varies with everyone.

I was just at the dr. today and they decided to add Pepcid (have been taking Protonix) and informed me that it takes a good 12 weeks to completely heal the inflammation.....sure wish the hospital would have provided more information about how this all goes. I too have felt that "heavy rock in the stomach" boobear, not fun!

I just had an endoscopy yesterday. Very pleasant experience for me considering what was going on. I actually looked forward to being knocked unconscious for a little while. I got to escape the pain for a little while. The doctor said I have gastritis and possibly Barrett's. Waiting for the biopsy results. For me the worst part of this is the chest pain and the feeling of an inflated balloon under the ribs. I am able to fight off the anxiety, but the chest pain is crazy. I hope all of us get well soon.

I hear you on the being knocked out for a bit to escape the pain. I wouldn't wish gastritis on anyone. Hope you get to feeling better soon, and all the rest of us that are battling this!

I have been feeling pretty rough the last few days :( just wondering wether any of you can describe the daily aches you have. I seem to be getting a lot of stomach pain straight after eating, even though I have made my diet more bland in the last few weeks,could you describe the pains you get and when you get them? are they everyday like mine? what a battle this is !!!

So a couple days ago I woke up in Afib. I have never had that happen to me before. My heart has always been my strength. I work out a lot and all previous tests showed my heart was good. I went to the ER and they had trouble converting it to a normal rhythm. So they had to shock me. They believe the cause is my thyroid.

I had a physical in March and my Thyroid was normal 4 TSH. Now it is 8.6. I did some research and believe the CT scan I had after my physical probably damaged my thyroid. So now I have a new issue. I am so bummed.

I am so sorry to hear that, it is such a worry when there is a problem with either heart or thyroid, so you have this ontop of gastritis??,,,hope you get better soon.

Yes the thyroid is a new problem on top of Barrett's and Gastritis. I am 55 and I feel like I am dying slowly. It is hard to keep a positive outlook on things.

try zinc carnosine!! I am gastritis free and no more ppi!! I buy mine on amazon but you can google it to find it elsewhere. It literally saved my stomach!

Nisegarden, please tell me how long you had to take zinc carnosine and when you started feeling better on it. Which brand did you use? Were you on a ppi at the same time? Did you follow a strict diet? Please share. I'm really happy for you. I am dismally miserable right now with gastritis and acid reflux. Thanks!

Zinc carnosine! Please read the reviews of this wonderful supplement by hundreds of users on Amazon! Healed my gastritis in 3 weeks! I've suffered for over 2 years with gastritis and all my doctors could do is give me diets, PPIs and Zantac. No more! I use zinc carnosine and I am pain free! Shame on doctors for not learning nor sharing this information to suffering patients. I hope it helps you like it helped me. I plan to stay on this supplement for the rest of my life.
