Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
Alcohol used to give me nutcracker esophagus if I took too big a sip. Sorry you have this. You can get away with eating everything for a while, but when you feel that old familiar feeling, quit and go back to what you know doesn't hurt.
I get tired of bland foods too, but when these are the only things that don't cause pain, you learn to put up with it. This started for me back when I was in my late thirties. It isn't too hard to manage once you understand it.
I don't think it really ever goes away, just lies in wait.
I can eat some foods once a week, but if I have them two days in a row I am hurting for days.
Even my gastroenterologist now tells his patients that he would rather see them do elimination diets than take meds....
