Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
I am sorry that you are going through this. I will say this: being terrified is the WORST thing you can do. I am speaking from experience - I went through some health problems and uncertainty that started 3 years ago and it is the fear of the worst case scenario that kept me getting sicker and sicker and made my sx worse. Only after I pulled back from that and started doing yoga etc that I got better (then I got gastritis but that had been brewing for a while). So, though I haven't dealt with IM, my condition was similar in that there was a very unlikely worst case scenario that I freaked out about.
Can you take imodium? That saved my life, I think literally, when I had nonstop diarrhea, could not eat and lost 14 lbs in 2 months due to gut damage, I was dying. Imodium reversed all that.
Secondly, are you taking Zinc carnosine (I like the Swanson brand) and look into L-Glutamine as well. IM can be reversed and is very unlikely to cause cancer, especially when you treat it with natural supps like you are, from what I understand.
Finally, please take up yoga, mediation and relaxation on a daily basis, if you have not already. YOur mental attitude can cure this or make it worse. It is WHOLLY in your hands - I believe that 100%.
Best wishes,
Asli
After seeking help from a nutritional practitioner I have now learned that I am low in B12 & vitamin D. I now take zinc, magnesium, B12 & vitamin D & starting to feel less fatigued each day.
I stopped taking all medications & will take Zantac only wen I need to.
I really think the HPylori has not gone because when I was on the antibiotic for my sinus infection last week my stomach issues eased considerably.
My advise is don't stop researching, keep trying different things & keep onto your doctors for continual blood test to check your levels. As I said I have been suffering with this stomach issue for 4 years & it will eventually run your body down.
I never lost weight either instead I gained 10 kilos & bloated up considerably.
Hope all goes well
Some ER docs thought I had ulcerative colitis, I though I had crohn's, so I started taking supplements to see if they would work and they did.
I am taking marshmallow root (I was taking for interstitial cystitis but I can see above it's used for this, so exciting to hear), aloe vera gels, l glutamine (has helped tremendously), ginger and detox and green teas (want to get matcha green tea as powerful antioxidant I've read). I've also read vitamin C, anyone? I have bulk turmeric powder so I make "golden milk". Just bought some manuka honey, but I've read that sugar is the enemy, anyone?
What is DGL?? Someone else on here told me to get DaVinci product for the gut and it has really high doses of everything like licorice and l glutamine, to name a few. I am thinking that will be my one stop shop for everything it seems. If anyone has any other supplement OR diet recommendations, please let me know.
Reading about the stress part above has opened my eyes. I have enormous stress right now with work, financial stress, and chronic pain/fatigue from fibro and accidents. I know this is making it worse. So, it almost sounds like a prescription for yoga and meditation are a must. My wakeup call!
