Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.

Till the gastroscopy yesterday. Not sure what went wrong.
I was managing my pain well with supplements without relying much or at all on PPIs and H2 Blockers.
Had an egd done yesterday where the doctor did a hot biopsy on 1 antral polyp (not sure what this is). Results of the egd showed red and inflamed stomach lining - gastritis. Negative for H. Pylori. Biopsy results will take a week.
I was fine right after the procedure till about 5pm where the stomach pain started and lasted all night long till now. I was given Dexilant and Motilium to take to manage the gastritis and bloating. Not helping much.

Regretted having the scope done...

Consider Gastromend HP or even plain mastic gum. PepZin GI is fine and dandy but mastic gum is really a faster-acting nuke for more severe cases, i.e. having actual stomach pain*

Doubt anything went 'wrong'...

Pain after a biopsy sounds normal... they've injured your lining after all.

I had pain after my biopsies which healed up in a day or so... & returned to my 'normal' discomfort.

my stomach was worse after my endoscopy too. I remember drinking a lot of coconut water at that time. My endoscopy was awful because they had me waiting literally all day for mine. there were others there that they considered a higher need. I couldn't eat or drink all day and was in hospital from 10 am -3pm. it sucked!

Remember that the biopsy is taking a piece of your internals for evaluation. If the polyp was larger, it could have left a little sore spot.... Give it a few days... dont get down... it will heal

Thanks again everyone for the kind words. I was just in a comfortable position, now it's back to square one.

@johngreen: when you mention you remember drinking a lot of coconut water, did it help soothe your stomach?

Hope you feel better. Try taking some gas x and a Tylenol. That usually helps for me.

Wow ok.. ticking Gas X and Tylenol off my list.

I was given Motilium, which my Dr. mentioned should help with the gas and bloating. We'll see how this goes. Would taking digestive enzymes prior to meals help?

Yasz, I would say just do your usual stuff. Take your usual stuff. Your lining should return back to 'normal' in a day or so.

Personally I wouldn't risk the digestive enzymes right now.

Most brands of Coconut water are very safe & soothing.

Once things settle down again, try the Motilium.

It could just be because you didnt eat for a prolonged period of time.

Some mentioned Mastic Gum, I would be careful with that, it gives me awful stomach pain
