Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
Nutritionist also recommended collagen protein powder. And dgl for flareups. I get very anxious with this it seems to go on for a long time. Thanks
I'm a male, 33 years old. I live in Israel :)
I was diagnosed with mild chronic gastritis in April 2017.
I started taking nexium, 40 MG in the morning, also I started a diet, after 3 months I felt better, I had few minor relapses, but nothing serious, a few days ago, I went with friends after a long time and I drank half liter of beer, smoked few sigarets, came home feeling OK, ate an apple, and than it started, I felt like when I was diagnosed, a lot of pain, heartburn, and all the symptoms... I hope this time it will take me less than 3 months to feel better :(, bottom line, this limitations made me depressed, I hope there will be a cure in the future...
I’m a 32 year old female from the UK. Gastritis was diagnosed (from symptoms) in March 18 but I was having vague stomach pains for up to a year beforehand. I have always eaten well, not smoked, but drank a little and not exercised enough. My doctor thinks that coffee is the main cause for me as I was drinking several strong cups a day. Although I used to cook a lot, I preferred spicy/garlic/tomato based foods which I now know are damaging to an already inflamed stomach lining. I have taken omeprazole for 1 month and it made some difference, but now rely on slippery elm and a strict diet. I have lost 8kg which has been good for me and I am now at my ideal weight. This was working well until the last few days when I started to suffer pain after loosening by diet a little - a cup of tea here, too much cheese there, and last night some red wine without eating at the same time. I am hopeful that returning to the strict (and healthy!) diet will eliminate these horrible symptoms. I also hate the terrible feeling that this could be something more serious, but am encouraged that diet has had such a significant effect that it must be gastritis.
