Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.

I’m so tired.

Hello. I hope someone sees this. I’m so lost and tired. I’m not sure if this is a good place to post but I’m so desperate.


Since May 12th, I have been dealing with near constant nausea. I also have been experiencing intermittent gnawing stomach pain, loss of appetite and burping/hiccups. 


I went to the ER a few days ago because I’d had enough. The doctor told me it sounded like gastritis and I should follow up with my primary. No tests. Nothing.


I went to my primary and he told me that it sounds like IBS and he scheduled me for a CT with contrast. 


I’m defeated. I don’t think I can tolerate the barium with the nausea. I just don’t think it’s going to happen. 


It’s not IBS. It’s something else. My doctor won’t refer me for GI consult until I’ve done the CT. 


I am so nauseous. Every single day. I have eaten a handful of oyster crackers since the 12th of May. I am hardly able to take in any fluids. Just so much nausea. 


Has anyone else had my symptoms? Specifically the nausea? How long did it take to go away? I will take any advice/stories/healing I can get. 


Please help.

Hi. Are you taking any medication? Could be that. When I feel like that I take Benadryl. It works for me. I still have the problem but I have Gastroparesis. I am now dealing with acid reflux. I hope you feel better soon. Big hugs.

You don't just need a CT scan, they can't see everything with that alone. You should ask for an endoscopy.

Have you been tested for SIBO or H Pylori?

I’m not sure why they want to do a barium swallow on you just yet.

I have had Gastritis show up in all my Endoscopy Procedures, but what I am going through is the worst ever. I went to hospital on July 22, and had a CT Scan of abdomen. It told me everything I do not have, but they felt it was a bad case of my Gastritis. My biggest thing right now is this lightheaded feeling and very weak. I am actually going next week to get some cardiac testing.
When this Gastritis hit, I could not eat any food, stomach pain, nausea, burping, I have been able to get some food into me last few days, but this dizzy weak feeling just will not go away.
Does anyone else experience extreme weakness with dizziness? That is what scares me.

Here's an easy test. Take a Zantac 75 and see if the nausea starts to go away. If it does, chances are you have indigestion/acid is irritating damaged stomach lining. See my old Gastritis page which I've been too lazy to update: https://gastritishelp.wordpress.com/

the symptoms from Susan70 do sound like typical gastritis. Try starting Zantac. Zantac is a good test to see if it is a lining of the stomach issue. This can get way better for many people. it requires a lot of hard work with the diet and anxiety type symptoms. Get help for the anxiety if you have that. Mental health issues are at the top of the causation list. Then diet.

I have been diagnosed with gastroparesis. But I have had problems with eating, constipation, nausea, and diarrhea. it hurts to eat. even when I know, I should eat something. I feel guilty when I eat because I know that this will affect my GI system. I am eating all of the right foods for a bland diet. but the symptoms are so painful. it is awkward to feel this way. I have problems sleeping and performing my daily tasks.

Gastroparesis is more challenging and a different issue to deal with but managing it is somewhat similar. Small meals. No fatty stuff. Plain foods. Not sure how you cure it but the causes are different. Like diabetes , MS etc. I can see how this would be a challenge

I posted awhile back. Had a Endoscopy, and there was no ulcer, test said normal stomach. Now I am going for the gastroperesis test for stomach emptying on Friday. Waiting for biopsy results from the endoscopy from this week. He is looking for h-pylori along with celiac disease, and I have Barrett's Esophagus, so thats being checked. I know how frustrating it is with this abdominal pain, nausea, and weakness. I am diabetic to top it off.
