Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.

If you don't read that, at least take PepZin GI (zinc carnosine), 4 capsules a day.
But you should really read that.
But replace all mention of Pepcid 20mg with Zantac 150mg.
@Rachel: Stay with this group...I've learned more about what I'm going through via the people here than at the GI/doctors.
They're so quick to just throw PPI's and H2 Blockers at you...for life.
Do your research, ask questions...don't lose hope.
and family dr no help there
so i took matters into my own hands to find some sort of reliefe and here i am ..searching just like you good luck and hope you feel better
Many find that slippery elm powder in water helps. I just can't get it down.
Also, probiotics and enzymes are key!
I take probiotics twice a day and enzymes every time I eat anything.
I use beano for any veggie, and papapa enzymes for any meat (I can't eat grains). Also, being gassy hurts! Simethicone tabs or strips are helpful. ( gas-x in the USA )
re: water. Me too. I have found temperature to be key with this. I think when we do cold or hot our stomachs have to work hard to get them to body temp, so I find body temp liquid to be the most soothing.
I've made it clear to my gastro that I took ppi meds for 18 yrs and I am done with them. I like my bones...
He started me on metacolpramide for regurgitation and delayed gastrc emptying. Metacolpramide offered some help, but then I was in so much pain I had to go to the ER. He then put me on perscription grade omeprazole, hyocamine to stop the cramping, and sulcrafate ( I use it to coat my stomach at night). I'm also on Ambian to help me sleep, because its so hard for me to sleep in so much pain. Since then I think I'm improving, for the first time in a year. Go the herbal route if you can, I religously stuck to that for 7 months. I was too stubborn and too anxious to take prescription medications, but I'm glad I finally did, I think I might be able to make plans for my future for the first time in years.
Great suppliments to take
Aloe vera (I bet youve heard this one) no added sugars I use the country life, no added fillers or binders.
Diatomacous earth ( yes it helps a lot. It also kills parasites if you have any, and its very cheap. You'll need the food grade, you can find it online)
dandelion tea
Vitamin D no fillers and binder ( I do thorne)
fish oil (if you can handle it. I cannot)
And I also take sublingual B-12 just incase my gastritis is atrophic and i also don't eat too much meat.
Pure formulas is a great website for suppliments you can't find in stores. Free shipping and returns.
Also I use acid reflux and gatritis cook books and thats a great place to start. I have the amazon library thing and all the books are available for me to rent for free.
I hope you can find something that works for you and some relief.
Goodluck sweetheart
