I have never taken any medications for my gastritis.Ive had it real bad last winter but managed solely with bland diet and natural remedies like DGL licorice, GI revive, stress B complex etc,This was when I was still living in the u.s.Now I live in Europe and I have 5 small healthy meals a day.I manage to eat lots of different foods.I drink coffee once a day no problem.I am still on a low fat gluten free and dairy free diet but my gastritis hasn bothered me in a while.I think life in Europe in general Is much more chilled out than the life I had in the u.s.:)and perhaps this plays a role as well

Joham:- it depend the severity of your Gastritis. but its good that u have controlled without medicine

Well I had pretty bad inflammation with reflux.gastritis,duodenitis and esophagitis (that was my final diagnosis after endoscopy) for a good couple months but I refused to take PPIs or H2 blockers even though everybody was trying hard to push them on me.Im just not a medicine kind of person so I found a great naturopathic doctor in California and she showed me the way out w/o any chemical drugs.

I have been taking H2 blockers regularly for years and PPI meds off and on for many years too. I quit taking them several months ago because they no longer work for me, so there is no reason to add that to my diet anymore.

Hi Mobeen42.As we probably already know the dietary advice is almost impossible to give when it comes to gastritis because everyone reacts differently to different foods however there is a narrow selection of items that seem to work for almost everone and do not cause any pain such as:steamed rice,oatmeal,gluten free bread, boiled/steamed vegetables:potatos(mashed),carrots,broccoli,cauliflower,spinach, fish:salmon,trout,tuna steak.In the early stages I ate mainly those.I would make my oatmeal with almond milk or rice milk or even oat milk.I would recommend total elimination of dairy and gluten out of your diet as those are highly inflammatory and your stomach does not need them to be honest.Eat 5 small meals a day: 3 main meals and 2 snacks.Water and chamomile tea or St John's wort tea to drink.The latter is also an excellent anti-depressant which promotes tranquil mood and works as an antiinflamatory agent for your irritated stomach lining.Keep all these up for 2-3 months until you notice serious improvement in your symptoms such as: no more nausea,burning,hunger pangs,frequent burping etc.Then you can very carefully start adding simple things back to your diet.I would still stay away from dairy and wheat.Probably for good:)

@Joham - I have heard of St John's wort as a supplement, but not as a tea. This could be interesting to try - (possibly anti-inflammatory & antispasmodic?), but I have read St John's wort interacts with lots of other meds which would be something I'd need to check first.

Unfortunately chamomile tea gives me heartburn!

Yes where I live St John's wort tea is very popular.You can get it in form of a tea bag in every drugstore.My grandmother was a herbal medicine woman and I remember she would often make this tea for anyone who complained of stomach ache.
This is true that St Johns wort may seriously interacts with chemical drugs(in most cases it makes them less potent)and it definitely has to be checked first.In large quantities St Johns wort can also make the sun exposure risky so it is simply advised to avoid direct sunlight but I don't have to worry about that since I no longer live in southern California:)

I thought I was imagining Chamomile tea - as supposed to calm you - gives me a terrible tummy. Not sure about Peppermint tea - many swear by it but I know it relaxes the LES - so am holdinhg off for the moment - also I notice toothpaste can set me off even though I don't swallow it - maybe its the peppermint.

JoHam is a winner she cured herself with no drugs. I also want to avoid drugs but at this point my gastritis is so bad i think i have no choice so i am using pepcid at night and will split it in two in a few days hopefully.

Yesterday i went to the doctor for my abdomen ultrasound and my gastritis has gone. No more fatty liver.

Now its been almost week since i had took my last medicine.

Mobeen 42 are you sure they can reach such conclusion from ultrasound only?As far as I know the condition of the stomach lining can only be determined by endoscopy.In any case its important that you feel ok now.

Before the endoscopy in june my doctor first went for the ultrasound of my abdomen and KUB. And in the impression it was clearly mentioned that time GASTRITIS /APD
then after that he went to check my internal condition of stomach. Which was later on diagnosed MILD GASTRITIS
