Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.

I had an upper endo, last week. Dr came in and said they took some samples of my stomach,which was inflamed, and small intestines. Also removed a polyp that he believes to be begnin according to the handout I was giving. It also said my stomach was inflamed like that with gastritis. Told me nothing about what I should eat or anything. I'm so annoyed. Gave me some Prilosec and sent me home. Hoping to hear some results tomorrow so I can get on the road to recovery.

The anxiety with all this is so awful. I'm sweaty with no fever, nausea, occasionally burning stomach, dull body aches. I eat chicken, potatoes and eggs primarly.

I guess my question is -- will I ever be like my old self again? I'm so filled with worry and anxiety.

I feel your pain new to this also stress makes it all the worse and doctors don't help much they send you home w ppi like Prilosec and give you very little info ..... you need to relieve the stress and anxiety try meditation lite excercise nothing strenuous...... or any activity that takes your mind off your troubles .... diet is key keep a journal of your diet so you can figure out what triggers flare ups from what I see healing the inflammation can take some time and the drugs Prilosec and all the others are not intended for long term use even though many doctor keep patients on them for years ..... can't say you will ever get back to normal I know 1 thing if I ever do I certainly will keep the lifestyle changes that I am learning because I don't ever want to feel like this again

I don't remember a thing once I got hooked up to the monitors and they sedated me. Throat, stomach were a little sore. It wasn't bad at all.

It really seems like Doctors are clueless when it comes to gastritis. I was hospitalised in January for 9 days the diagnosis after all the tests was gastritis funny they said I must eat normally. I had to check and keep a diary of food i eat then I stop eating what doesn't agree with my ailment. 1st doctor gave Peploc the 2nd one after I was out from hospital gave Nexmazol40mg once daily no pain killers at.
