Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.

2 years eat super bland 5-6 things and u can eat w/e u want after that.
10 years eat bland if you add stuff too early.
that's just from the info i've collected. I had it "cured" with no meds for a while but reverted back to old lifestyle too soon and messed it up much super worse than before.
I took the natural route and am no longer on any meds for the gut. I will stay on the St. John's wort for my anxiety.
While I eat more freely and have my life back I remain vigilant and avoid known bad foods and always read food labels.
Healing time varies. For me I guess three to four years.
I ate half a slice of frozen lemon cheesecake the other night and wham. I had some discomfort the next day. I checked the ingredients before and after, must be one of the additives. I don't normally eat that stuff, it was left over from a family visit. The rest is going in the bin.
I hope you are doing OK andy. I think you are one of those who probably need to reduce/change their meds...it hurts but it might be messing up your digestion it did to me and couldn't recover even with safe foods. I can be wrong though but it was really really hard to tell.
Vitamin D in high dosage can help with rebound too try sublingual form or in cream form. It strengthens the LES.
Anyways I hope and pray you are doing better if not i hope you improve too i got really really useful tips from your posts. Read mine too so maybe it can give you back insight.
This time round I have had it about 6 weeks now but I am still not on meds nor antacids. Gone back to what I was doing all those years ago and am getting there slowly.
Regards
G.
Make sure you eat very small portions (like baby sized) every 2-3 hours until you can handle food in larger amounts. the only way you will have it for years is if you neglected your condition for a long time or have something more serious going on. even people with ulcers (holes in the body) heal faster than years lol. i say 3-6 months if u follow strict diet, take meds (not over the counter, like a ppi or h2 blocker) and control your stress, dont worry it will be over soon. just gotta give up smoking, alcohol and caffeine/carbonated drinks to prevent it.
Sticking to the diet rules all the time is not easy. it does take a lot of discipline. That is the hard part. There are things you always will have to stay away from.
The key is to catch it early and eliminate it as quickly as you can.
Many more things than alcohol and smoking can trigger gastritis to develop again.
It is a trial and error process.
Just stay the disciplined course for a very long time.
if you didn't have gastritis symptoms for very long you have a better chance of doing a lot better.
I nipped it in the bud pretty quickly and I can tell after 2 years of no symptoms I still have to watch it. it can creep up on you. just be aware.
