Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
I too have gastritis due to over use of Nsaids. Gastritis can be acute (short spells ) or chronic ( very long spells). This is a difficult condition to get a read on. You will have a great day and think "I'm better" only to have the worse day yet on the next. Don't get discouraged but be careful about what you eat and drink and the stress you allow yourself to endure. Gastritis takes time and discipline to heal. My first bout was 3 or 4 months. This bout has been ongoing for 6 months now.
@jim229- did you have any endoscopy or any test done to find the extent of your gastritis? my physician has not done any and im going to be seeing a GI in 2 weeks. Do you think its a good idea to get an endoscopy done?
As you've already read - gastritis is a very tricky thing to deal with... I too have had a bumpy road and many ups and downs over the last year, but have been 99% pain free for the last 2 months.
In my opinion diet counts for 99% of the "healing"... it's bland and boring, but nothing tastes as good as being pain free.
It does get better I promise.... it just takes time.
Good luck!
Get the endoscopy. That way the doc knows exactly what kind and where your inflammation is located in the stomach. Gastritis in the antrum is a longer healing process. I had one in March of 2011. It was a piece of cake.
It has been widely used in Japan (where it was created) for stomach ailments since 1995. In America you can buy it on Amazon. I prefer "Dr's Best PepZin GI" brand.
A stronger approach to healing would be NOW Foods' Ulcetrol.
And an even stronger (correspondingly with potential side effects), is Gastromend HP.
All sold on Amazon.
