Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
There are natural supplements, but if the meds he gave you work, I would stay on them.
You can add pepsin gi, dgl, slippery elm if you want.
I take Pantoprozole once a day
As it seemed I was improving the doctor said to stop
Taking it and monitor my system
However I think Raw kale messed me up because
The last three days have been hard
Not so much stomach pain..it's there but mild
But now I feel dizzy and nauseated..these are new
I am having sleeping issues as well
I think Pantoprozole might cause these side affects?
I just feel like crap the last three days
The dizziness worries me..never had that before
If I continue to feel less stomach pain and gas
I will reduce taking this
If not I guess I will continue
This thing is so confusing
Any thoughts on Pantoprazole
My next doctor appointment in Dec 22..where I get
The biopsy results
From others here, you should not stop the PPI abruptly, but slowly cut it down so that you do not experience withdrawal.
About the dizziness. I know I see alot of complaints here about dizziness.... Just a word to note.. sometimes anxiety can add in symptoms which you think are related to one part when they are not. Anxiety is one of the worst parts of this illness.
I worry a lot
However not sure if it's that
I've never been dizzy before from anxiety
Thanks for the reply ..appreciate it
whatever you do, don't cut the meds cold turkey. you'll need to taper down very gradually, or you'll be back to square one. read up on acid rebound from PPIs.
get better soon.
And gastiris is as common as the flu
Then why are soo many of us feeling confused
Oh well
Bloating, cramps, headache, nausea, dizziness,
Burping I feel I have as a result of Pantoprazole
Stomach burn, indigestion, and burping from gastiris
right now I have mild stomach burn
The Pantoprazole is 40 MG ..once a day ..is this
A lot to take
Do they have 20 MG
I think I will start by taking 3/4 or 1/2 the pill and see how it goes
And eat right ..for my stomach to heal
Not sure
I appreciate any feedback
I read the reflux thing
It may happen a week after you stop ..how confusing
How do we really know when our stomach is healed
If the mess cause side affects as well
And they can't look at ur stomach or measure progress
A lot of guess work..
Thanks for the feedback
I wish everyone well
Is there an over the counter
Replacement for Pantoprozole
Thanks
U can try an OTC PPI twice a day as a way to taper off.
suppliment it with Tums for bad spells.
I didnt think Kale was acidic, maybe google it
(In Toronto)
I just bought Pepcid 10 MG -- ($14, on sale) yikes, my, Pantoprazole on my company drug plan is like $2
Not sure, I have been taking half (1/2) of the Pantoprazole over the last three days, I feel better (non Gastritis) system
But My Gastritis has been about a 5/10 ---burning pain and cramps
Ironically when I was in Cuba, I felt best (even though my wife says there food is not clean)
I think Stress has a lot to do with our condition --I worryif only we could all go on vacation till we heal
Ironically I use to drink with friends to relieve stress, and now that is not an option
I have to find other hobbies
My work is a bit redundant, so it does not keep my mind off my health
I might take up meditation
On Monday I get the results of my biopsy and even though they said no tears in my stomach
I still get nervous about any finding
So I do not want to give kale a bad rap...
I guessed it was that
On Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday I cut the Pantoprazole is 40 MG in half and took it
I added Pepcid at work, before lunch, as I need to ensure I am able to work
My stomach pain is off and on
Yesterday was bad so I took the full pill
Today was on and off too ---(I had two fried chicken wings yesterday, as my boss made them and he insisted, and tonight I plan to have some mild tandoori chicken and rice) (as I have the weekend off I want to see how it goes)
Over the last two weeks I have had two sleepless nights and dry mouth
After I cut the pill in half I started to feel better
In fact I feel great, with my healthier diet
The two issue (Stomach and throat) Im like come on stomach the rest of me feels great, what is wrong with you...
I think this weekend I will try Pepcid AC only
On Monday I have a doctors appointment and I will see what he says, maybe ask for a lower doze of Pantoprazole
I bought the book Dropping Acid aside from nuts I am trying to follow it
It hard for me to understand some natural remedies people are talking about (besides Cabbage juice) I guess I will have to get a pen and paper, and start to write stuff down to understand.
So basically we take the PPI to help reduce acid in our stomach to allow the stomach to heal. And once it is healed enough we stop. This may cause reflux but if we have healed enough our stomach will bear itis this correct?
So is the Idea to reduce Acid in our stomach ---and not irritate our stomach to allow it to heal
And while some foods are low in Acid-they may irritate our stomach lining, especially if they are high in fiber.
Anyway I will follow up on Monday after I see the Doc if anyone is interested
Very confusing but I do feel long term use of PPI may cause other issues so I am not sure why Doctors do not talk to Diet at all ?
