Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.

I occasionally take low dose Valium (2mg) when i stomach feels at its worst in terms of tight and anxious - that is enough to settle things down for me. I'm sure there are better options out there though.
I agree, gastritis can replicate anxiety, however, i do believe there is a negative feedback loop where gastritis not only mimics anxiety but can also lead to real anxiety, stress and depression particularly if it is chronic. This can then compound the problem and, in my view, make gastritis harder to shift. Certainly, in my case, 2015 has been a very stressful and difficult year in terms of work and domestic life. It's no coincidence that gastritis has been at it's most prevalent.
any one have the feeling like laziness, kind of sleepy feeling?
And, if it actually is ok to use heat, is it safe to put it right on the chest where the spasms occur? I'm having a lot of esophageal spasms lately. At least, that's what I believe these are. I was doing so much better. Then things took a sudden turn again. I guess this is the "good days, bad days" thing.
My anecdotal evidence being that I never really understood the whole nervous stomach thing spread about by my peers. I never really understood what they meant by feeling like puking their guts out simply because of anxiety.
I remember the first time being when I was to take a final exam (my gastritis was at its peak at the time) and I was feeling decent all the way up until 20 minutes before the test. Then came the overwhelming sick feeling.
Prior to this experience, I never really had 'actual' stomach pain from anxiety.
In addition, when I was at my peak of gastritis issues, there was a week where I literally forgot where my shoes were I hadn't left the house in so long and then when I finally improved a little bit, I would always worry about leaving the house and how my stomach would kill me while I was out and about.
It's a tough cycle to break.
With regard to PPI's I notice a 'burning head' sensation typically accompanied by my normal postural hypotension.
