Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
I've had a flare the last few weeks as well.
Spoke with my naturopath who reminded me that when our bodies are otherwise stressed our gastritis will take advantage and act up. ( I love my ND)
My particular current physical stress is allergies. Looking back over my pain journal I have more pain in general and specifically gastric wise during spring and fall when my seasonal allergies are acting up.
Her suggestion? Benadryl.
It works - makes me tired of course but I have found the last couple days that if I take it even just at night, I have much less pain in the morning. I believe it's not only because it is making me sleepy but because it's calming down my allergic responses and my system is less stressed. I can't take the non-tired kind of antihistamines as they make me shaky but they'd work as well.
Sometime to add to your toolbox....
I really don't understand why they can't make an ibuprofin pain patch for ppl like us. It would be so helpful.
I know you have suffered for a long time - sorry to hear this
I think you may have tried it already, but maybe give Pregabalin ("Lyrica") a (another?) go.
It is very good for pain, and also helps anxiety which you may suffer from as well. Give it a good dose - I think it is safe up to 600mg a day (2x300mg). It should also help your sleep and appetite, and has good tolerability. Talk to your doctor.
I have recently been on this and it has been a massive help.
You should also get another scope so your GI can have a proper look
cheers,
