Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
Eat bananas, potatoes, yogurt, rice, chicken for the last 2 weeks
Been on the diet and supplements for almost two weeks.
did you have a particularly stressful summer, was your anxiety at the peak in September? Anything else that you may link this to?
Sadly, I echo others - two weeks is not enough to feel a difference... Continue to eat bland food, and if Protonix doesn't keep helping consider another medication, or get a second, or third, opinion from another doctor. The moment when things turned around for me is when I started the PPI (ironically, Protonix). It took 2 full months to be about 75%. Then a flare again for 2 months, 2 more months on Dexilant to feel 75-80% like I do now.
You have support here, we're all in the same boat and understand. I think your bigest issue right now is the anxiety. are the ssirs anti-anxiety meds? My 2 cents - be careful, something occassional and non-habit forming might be a good place to start, if that even exists. You don't want to be stuck taking them forever, or end up a bigger mess when you stop.
The next day I went into panic and have been trying to recover since. That was about 3 weeks ago...... Now I started to eat every 2 hours or so....
I don't know what else to do.... my mind is my enemy I know, and I need the medication to work if I am ever going to get past this.
As others have said, healing is a long process. 6 months for me and I still have flare ups.
Stay away from coffee and tea especially green tea. Chocolate can also irritate too. No aspirin ,ibuprofen or Alleve. Take Tylenol if you have to take something.
I might add, even mild gastritis can cause severe burning in the stomach, so if your diagnosis was moderate then you will have some discomfort for a while.
