Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.

Going back to GI Doc on Monday to get biopsy results. I'm having a hard time with symptoms and depression. I have so many changing symptoms I don't know how to list them where they make sense. Plus I have new ones now that I have a hiatal hernia too. It's going on six months of this and I'm losing hope of ever being better. My daughter is out of school for the summer and I am worthless, not able to go anywhere or do anything with her. I just want to cry and I don't have a diagnosis as to what is really happening. Sorry to be such a downer. Just wondering how you all organize your symptoms to show your doctor.

Brilliant question, difficult to answer. I wanted to describe my pains and saying it feels like my gut is coming away from the lining doesn't make sense to a dr.
I know how down you're feeling, you are not worthless. Just now it's hard for all of you to shine. My gastritis has been ok fir a while but my IBS doesn't want me to be lonely. Heading on holidays tomorrow and have had two days of pain. Hope it goes before I travel.

Write down what you are able, as best you can. A list can help organize your thoughts, so you don't get off track and be up-front with the GI about the other conditions. It is better sometimes to have too much information, than not enough in my personal experience.
