Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.

gnawing hunger pain

Hi, I was diagnosed with gastritis and acid reflux. Initially I had pain in my upper left stomach, and then went across the whole top of my stomach one day when I didn't eat all day, but it has subsided, perhaps because I no longer eat spicy, fried etc. foods. Now the only symptom I have of gastritis is that if I don't eat and start getting hungry, I get terrible gnawing hunger pains that make me feel like the burning pain is going to come back. If I eat the wrong thing, then I get the acid taste in my mouth. Does this sound like gastritis to anyone? Thank you.

Also, I was on Omeprazole for two weeks and then quit when it started making me sick. Right now I am just taking the DGL and aloe vera juice.

My gastritis is in my upper stomach. I had an ulcer 20 yrs ago but that was right by my belly button region. My gastritis hurts 3 inches higher than my belly button. Mine is caused by bile reflux disease. I do not get any acid taste in ym mouth but I do not have acid reflux. They didn't see excess acid during my upper GI scope- only lotsa bile.

It sounds classic for gastritis with reflux. Is there something safe you can drink to give your stomach something to do until you can eat something? I do coconut milk over ice,but many here seem to like coconut water as well. If you can't get food down you might try some protein powder mixed in water or whatever liquid works for you.
I was only just diagnosed last week (still not sure what kind of gastritis I have, waiting on the biopsy) but have had these symptoms and therefore logically, gastritis, since last August.
