Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
1.) Has anyone else experienced a dull, very feint sensation on their left side, sort of near the rib with gastritis?
I wouldn't describe it as sharp, pounding, or cramp like, more like just something that is mildly uncomfortable and is just kind of there. It goes away when I am hungry and is usually present in that middle period b/w meals (About an hour and a half before meals then dissipates when I am hungry)
2.) Has anyone known Nexium to cure their IBS?
Prior to taking Nexium to treat my gastritis I would have intermittent diarrhea and seemingly constant floating stools as well as intestinal gas. After a month on this drug, I have had pretty much normal stools and none of the above.
3.) Can you still have excess stomach acid (which causes my gastritis) if your reflux is 100% gone?
Little background. I was diagnosed with functional dyspepsia about 5 years ago for aches after eating (XTRM fullness, stomach aches). However, recently I was diagnosed with gastritis. Through all of this I have seen my reflux get worse and worse over the years, leading to what I think is what caused my gastritis (H. Pylori negative). Back to the question and it could be construed as two seperate questions.
Could there be excess acidity in my stomach even though all obvious indicators of excess acid are gone (No reflux at all, something that was a constant at one point; I do have confusing hunger at times which from what I have heard people say acidity mimicks hunger)?
Could my FD actually be a long undiagnosed case of gastritis seeing as the symptoms are similar and I have seen a lot of my symptoms decrease through the use of Nexium and a bland diet?
4.) Lastly, with gastritis, has anyone noticed that nerves give them an awful stomach ache?
I have never been one to get a nervous stomach or feel sick when nervous but in the past month with the diagnosis of gastritis, I have gotten some pretty intense aches simply from nerves/anxiety (Have had anxiety for a while but never had aches from it)

I think it's related to gastritis as well. It only seems to be there every time (I foolishly) increase my food intake and get knocked down a peg in terms of progress.
But I agree, a pinch would probably be the best way to describe it as it is really unlike anything I've ever felt. I just know its 'there'.
