Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
The weight loss surgery also gave me post bariatric post prandial hypoglycemia. so, I get where you are coming from.
If you can handle whey protein, the best way I found during my worst flare up of gastroparesis and gastritis 3 yrs ago to get my nutrition was using Syntrax Nectars medical unflavored powder in basically everything I drank during the day. (avail on Amazon) You can't mix it into really hot drinks or it clumps up but I'm thinking you aren't drinking really hot anyway. If you can't handle whey there are some good soy or egg proteins out there too.
Try alternative milks to mix it into and see what works. Vanilla coconut milk is good, as are almond plain and vanilla. Dont go "light", they have alternative sweeteners and they hurt! Better to mix 1/2 water and 1/2 milk if you need to but the unsweetened milks like Blue Diamond unsweetened vanilla coconut milk are quite low in carbs, so it balances well. Also, I find following a ketogenic diet quite helpful, more good fats to move things along. Coconut oil is great stuff, the solid mixes into warm drinks, soups, etc and there is a liquid avail for cold drinks. I get 400 of my 1200 cal a day from good oils and it has really helped my digestion!
Have you tried marshmallow root tea and or flaxseed tea? MM tea in particular makes a great iced tea that literally coats all the way down because it makes a mucilage after it steeps for a few hours. Just put about 4 tea bags or 1/2 cup of the herb in a 1/2 gal of water and let it sit in the fridge, strain, stir and it's lovely especially by the bed at night to sip whenever you wake up a bit. I swear this stuff healed me.
Flaxseed tea helps for flares as well if you can find that more easily but I prefer MM root/leaf tea.
Great you take enzymes :) If you can get some of those liquid probiotic yogurt drinks maybe that will help but I don't have experience with it (I can't do dairy)...
For at work carrying a thermos of your chosen drink with some protein powder to mix in will probably be best.
If you end up on liquids for a while, there are some excellent soup proteins out there, chicken, beef, etc. but maybe not something to buy until you see what you'll need long term. Doc might just give you something that works and you will hopefully be all set!
