Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
The unfortunate side-effect from it is hardening of stool (mastic gum does that). You may experience it to some degree, but it should not result in total constipation.
The risk of trying it is worth it when you're in a bad condition with a throbbing ulcer and can't eat anything but oatmeal. This is some serious healing stuff.
I would not recommend staying on it forever, however. When you get better, slide off to Ulcetrol and then later to just Pepzin GI (for maintenance).
