HI.. I waited too long to get to the gastrologist and get an endoscope. I kept thinking it was something I was eating and kept trying to eliminate foods.My stomache burned and was so sore. It felt super inflamed. I had never had anything like it before. I had insurance troubles that prevented me fro getting in as soon as I should have ..Finally, after 1 year ! I had the endoscope. It was not so bad at all. Did not feel a thing and found I also had a small hernia, which is very common. Yes, The reflux I feel is made worse by my hernia. I take Zantac 150 at before bed er my doc as the PPI could be too hard on me as I have osteoporosis.
I have the same throat symptoms as I also have inflamed throat from the reflux.. but no erosions thank God.. Hope you feel better soon I am finally beginning to feel a lot better

Get the scope done.. It is a piece of cake.

When you have trouble swallowing you need to have a scope. Dont avoid it.

Also if you are having reflux and are on Zantac at night and Prevacid during the day your esophagus is pretty inflammed.. You need to be even more careful than you are with the diet... Something is still causing the reflux. it takes months to figure out what foods or drinks are causing you to continue to reflux ... Do a food diary it really helps

I am wondering the same thing. In the past when I was not taking the PPI, I managed to soothe my stomach pain to a reasonable level but somehow my acid reflux got worse, especially at night, and I would have a sore throat every morning.

Now I don't have stomach pain anymore but I still take dexilant 60 mg and I hope I won't have acid reflux/silent reflux when I decrease the dose.

Prop yourself up while sleeping to avoid refluxing.

I don't understand how anyone can say for sure that just because someone takes antacids and has reflux that their esophagus is inflamed like someone here claims. Are you a dr." That needs to be diagnosed by an endoscopy. I just had my endoscopy done this morning and I have taken antacids for 16 yrs. and the dr. hasn't told me I have an inflamed esophagus. Not unless he had a reason not for telling me and is leaving that up to my other dr. to tell me. However, it is good to hear that someone's stomach symptoms have mostly disappeared. I wish mine would!!! I've had mine for 5 months now. My left rib hurts so bad I literally sit and cry at times. It's not a continuous pain-it comes and goes. I take Zofran for my nausea and that works short-term. I think the pain is worse.

If you have trouble swallowing you have an inflammed esophagus.

That symptom should not be ignored.

I'm glad some of you decided NOT to become drs. My arm hurts. I guess I have a broken arm. Oh, and my leg hurts. Guess I have a broken leg. Last week my throat hurt. Guess what ? I don't have esophagitis!! Get with the program!!!!

When you say "inflamed esophagus" are you talking about the fluttery, kind of like palpitations that swim up the center of your chest?

Yes... get the scope. You will love the little rest you get during it. No feeling... no pain...no problem.

I understand the scratchy throat. Mine burns and swallowing anything dry, like nuts or crackers or pills is always a game of Russian Roulette for me. Never know when I'm going to have to do my own Heimlich maneuver.

I actually don't have that much reflux, but my sphincter is a little loose so it lets some back up when it shouldn't. Right now my IBS is also kicking my butt.

Are you still losing weight and having trouble eating? I think I remember you talking about that.
