Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
Been having gastritis flares for almost a year that resolve with Prilosec. Every time I wean off of it (took it for 8 weeks initially) the gastritis comes back and I end up at urgent care. I'm following the diet carefully and don't know what to do anymore. HPylori test was negative but I had been on Prilosec for weeks so I question whether it might be a false negative.
This began seemingly overnight a year ago and is ruining my life. I have an endoscopy in a week and am scared of what they might find since it has been so bad for so long now. So sorry to everyone who is dealing with this.
