Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
I thought one of the symptoms of gastritis was heartburn?? That and the pain was what led me to an endoscopy and a diagnosis.
Heartburn is not itself a symptom of gastritis. But it is a symptom of too much acid which would make gastritis worse. It isn't uncommon from what I know. The acid irritates the stomach lining and the two can co-exist together.
Just to share with you.. eggs never bothered me before until last year. All of a sudden, one dinner with egg as one of the side dish, my stomach will get bloated and my nausea will come back.
I wondered why but since I cut out eggs from my meals, it is okay.
Different people react differently to food, so just make a mental note of the foods that trigger your symptoms and avoid them for now.
