Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
Bad bacteria in the gut takes over and problems begin.
However I use some great natural products that combat bad gut bacteria, balance the body and add good bacteria to your gut flora..
Appetites increase and bad cravings go away.
Also they increase the Seratonin in the gut with which we need for mood and anxieties etc.
Get the bad bacteria overcome and good bacteria taking over and your body can start healing itself.
A healthier gut means a healthier me!
We can talk more if you like....
Yes all the symptoms you have described are sounding like gastritis. I had the nausea, especially in the morning and definitly had the horrible gnawing hunger pains, and every day I would have a stomach ache. I had all these symptoms for 7 months until I was eventually dignosed and given PPI medication. After a few weeks on the PPI's The gnawing pain stopped, and the nausea, but the PPI's have side effects aswell including indigestion and stomach upset. Some people don't have symptoms everyone is different. Have you had an endosopy yet, that's the only sure way of finding out?? but it sounds like typical gastritis. But I am on the mend and if you read back on some of the recent post you will see that it will improve. I have burning still in the centre of my chest...but I went and expanded my diet a bit too quick I think...but I have improved and I NEVER though I would...so have faith and you will get through this... :)
I would like to know more but right now I am trying to get over the pain and nausea first.
I don't have any appetite right now and I'm worried that my symptoms are just not typical ....
It might be the medication causing the loss of appitite, I had that with zantac. I had to change PPI's three times before getting it right. good luck.
THANKS for the insight!
I really just need to see that I'm not the only one going through this and that my pains are similar to others.
I just have been a fairly healthy person so having gastritis out of the blue has been very shocking.
I will for sure go back and read up on the older posts.
I have not had an endoscopy yet.
I meet with my Gastrointeroligist in 4 days. Right now the diagnosis has been from my General Practioner.
The nausea and gnawing is what has been causing lack of appetite and when I eventually eat I get full very quickly with only a few bites.
I will most definitely be updating here more often and checking in more often
I just now have some kind of relief.... I had been taking Pantoprazole 40Mg 2 times a day.
Along with a light bland diet this has given me less pain.
I know how your daily living can be.
I felt robbed of my everyday life with my family, friends and job.
My pain was from Gastritis so I am not sure any advice I have is relevant to your IBS/CROHNS
I just wish you well.
I have been having symptoms of gastritis for years though and ignoring them/self managing through diet, etc. However, this last year been waking up throwing up, choking on vomit. I have been on protonix and that is not helping. I also am now showing inflammation from a CT scan from multiple ER visits after gallbladder surgery. I have taken absolutely everything they have prescribed and am losing my mind that I can self manage and get better.
I was told I had IBS some 15 years ago, so I know the diet, the self regulation, but it seems to have reached another level and because I live in Texas and only HMO insurance, I'd have to travel 2 hours away to find specialist in crohn's (which is what i've been suspecting). I cannot get a gastro doc to actually LISTEN to me and how do you tell a male doc (when you're female) that you're incontinent? Yeesh, talk about embarrassing.
The main pain in the pit of my stomach is gone but I still have uncomfortable / uneasy feeling in my stomach.
The best i can describe the pain is, gnawing, gas, bloating, fullness right below the sternum.
It comes and goes all day but its there more than times than not.
I still have a loss of appetite.
I do not feel like eating, and when i do 3 or 4 bites and I am full, nauseated or feel like I am gonna have a painful stomach.
This is really bothering me and I am losing weight.
Sometimes having an empty stomach feels better but then I know its not good for me.
I am just at a loss of what to do and and cant believe this wont go away.
I keep looking around to see if this condition can really last for months?!?!
I do not want this to be how I feel from now on.
hang in there buddy, it WILL go away, I was on the meds for a good few weeks before I started to feel any better, we are all different and it can take some people longer than others. What type of gastritis do you have??...mine is mild antrum gastritis, basically at the base of my stomach, no H Pylori. I also struggled with the PPI and zantac...I had very very bad indigestion like a big elastic band around my chest reaching down to below my stomach. you may have some PPI side effects!! .I ate small and regular meals throughout the day to allow for digestion. Maybe check with your GP about your symptoms. I still had stomach pain even with the meds, and am now suffering BAD rebound because I came off them quickly...but it DOES get better...the nausea went for me after about 6 weeks on the PPI's. I lost 2 stone throughout this and it does happen because people tend to eat a very bland low fat/low sugar diet. Gastritis is a horrible condition, and I felt that it would never get better but I kept taking my meds the best I could (even with the terrible side effects)...I ate as best I could and I got plenty of rest and no stress....and although I am not 100% yet..I am definitly better than I was at the beginning.....keep us posted and prays to you :)
