Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
Can you eat yogurt? I found that settling along with bananas which sadly you can't eat.
I use to cook vegies and pure them to make patties. I also added minced beef or chicken or maybe salmon.
I've found I can eat certain foods if their ground up or pured without a problem. I'm unable to eat a steak, but I can eat a hamburger. Like the eggs, I can't eat them hard boiled, but can eat them scrambled. I think because my stomach doesn't have to work so hard to digest the food. I try new things every so often and see how I'm feeling. It's been very hit or miss. From the posts I've read everyone is very different in what can set off the gastritis again.
Good luck in figuring out what works for you.
About the: same here! No hard boiled egg but scrambled egg!
In the beginning I even steamed chicken and pureed it with carrot and pasta (plus some oil). Felt like a baby when eating that ...
I guess I am just looking for some hope that I am getting better. What treatments did you use?
Lou, as far as foods I've been good with eggs, millet, chicken, potatoes, green beans, carrots, bananas, lactose free yogurt and olive oil.
But the millet is worth a try! What do you do with millet? Millet porridge?
I can eat at any restaurant now and I have my life back and no longer have to plan outings around my eating times etc. I'm always mindful of how far I've come but no longer live with pain or fear and food again is my friend.
- have you tried soy yoghurt?
The sun will shine brightly and life will creep back into your life.
I think a lot of people get really bogged down (myself included) thinking about the future. Coming from experience, it is easy to not even see a light at the end of the tunnel at times.
With regard to the question I seem to tolerate:
-Rice
-Chocolate Chip Granola Bars (oddly enough)
-Deli Turkey
-Puffed Rice Dry Cereal
For breakfast, I usually eat some rice cereal with a granola bar and some quaker oatmeal squares. Then have 4 meals (all the exact same) of rice w/tumeric &a little salt, small serving of turkey, occasional slice of cheese, 1 serving oatmeal squares, 1 or 2 granola bars, & 1/2 serving pop chips.
I'd prefer to eat less to promote better healing & avoid setbacks but being someone who was 6ft1 150lbs prior to gastritis & is now 132lbs, I can't really afford to drop much lower.
I'm not too familiar with casein or histamine intolerances but I find granola bars go down very easily & are relatively high calorie.
What started your C Gastritis?
Do you think you will ever permanently heal from this or will you always have some parts of the stomach that never fully heal or reverse?
Good luck to everyone!
