Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
However, Once I started getting my stomach issues, I stopped taking it for fear that it had something to do with my issue.... I am just starting to reintroduce it now... But taking a lesser dose.
I tried to find out in another thread.... is fish oil the same thing as the Omegas in gummy form? I think they are. I'm not giving up on these remedies... just have to take it slower.
Fish oil doesn't do anything for my stomach, I take it for dry eyes. And even then, it's just part of combination treatment.
The real anti-inflammatory oil is GMO safflower oil, which is sold as "Stay-Weight" by Lindora, and "Ultra GLA 500" by GNC. The next best thing is Borage Oil, which is far more common, but requires 2x more consumption for same effectiveness level.
While taking the latter, fish oil should also be taken for safety reasons as it may deplete DHA/EPA in the body.
All in all, however, neither oil does anything good for the stomach, in my experience. In fact fish oil can irritate it - especially when it's one of those stupid brands that add "lemon flavoring" to it.
Guess I'm better off without all the "helps" and just toughing it out when I can. My inflammatory blood tests came back negative. But I tested positive for antibodies for either RA, Lupus or Sjogrens. Explains the dry eyes and mouth.
I'm slowly learning what to limit. I truly hate meds! And I don't trust everything that is labeled "natural" because I know that they can be harmful to some people. Some are good and work, but still need to be researched. Folks need to be just as careful about supplements as they are about prescriptions.
