Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
Breads, cereals, leans meats, and one things I've learned, they say chew chew chew your food!!! Make it easier to digest!!!
I'm just learning myself. Stuff online helps but I'm finding some of it contradicts itself.
I just ( like 1/2 hour ago) got a book , " Eating for Gastroparesis, guidelines, tips, & recipes" by Crystal Zaborowski. I'll update as I learn more!!!
The biggest thing is small meals, sit or walk for at least an hour after eating. Do not lay down! It slows digestion!
Hope this helps!!!
Again, I'll update as I learn more!!!
Most people with gastritis follow all those rules anyway. Too much liquid at the time of eating is also a problem
Yes, a PPI can cause slow digestion. They shut down the pumps in the stomach.
Plain old gastritis can cause all the same problems but I hope you start to feel better.
Do your own research and I have always had a healthy bit of skepticism where doctors are concerned. I have learned the most about GERD and gastritis on my own and took charge of this issue years ago. It is a slow process and involves a large learning curve with a huge amount of discipline and determination in order to be symptoms free without any meds.
I feel anxiety and mental health issues are the number one causes of gastritis symptoms. That is what can make this issue so hard to heal. Treat the brain at the same time!
My Dr did diagnose me with it ( just said it was slow stomach emptying) but never explained anything about it to me. It wasn't till I pushed for answers that someone finally gave it a name and actually explained what it was. So that's all I'm saying!!!!
I also learned there is no one diet fits all. ( is there ever!!??) It's hit and miss, what each person can tolerate. The 2 biggest keys are low fat and low fiber to start.
Blessing all!!!
