Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
I stayed with olive oil and small amounts of butter at first and had no trouble. For my bad fats weren't an issue until IBS came along.
After several years I can eat deep fried foods safely. Not that I do very often.
I think I'm not gonna mess with olive oil , definitely hard to digest at least hardest than egg yolks which I have no trouble !
Maybe I'll just an add an egg to the potatoes, I'm sure that will help but then again I read having too many eggs is bad for gastritis but I do fine with them. I'm confused on what to do.
Too much protein bad, big meals are bad, too small meals are bad.Fat is bad, egg yolk is bad. Cereals are bad. Bananas are good, apples are good, yet I can't tolerate any fruit.
:S Fiber bad too some say!
I think fiber/protein (one you can tolerate) are the best for gastritis, they soak up the acid instead of it eating your stomach. I think rice is bad if your stomach is in the worst possible condition ever ! because it just creates more acid and theres nothing for the acid to work on except your raw stomach . I remember I could tolerate rice a year ago no problem and the diet was so easy ! Now its a hit and miss !
I can't do hard boiled eggs, poached eggs go down just fine ! I found a nice way to do them online.
I used 40mg pepcid before bed and had almost no pain all night it lasted me 8 hours maybe....but I don't want to use too much pepcid it can't be good. Zantac gives me side effects unfortunately.
@Sara what do you eat right now maybe that can give me some ideas. I tolerate chex rice cereal well too but its I can feel it scratching my stomach, gets rid of the burning though soaks up all the acid for hours. You can try brown rice Sara very well chewed I have feeling we can tolerate this better than regular white rice.
@joham I may try coconut oil but i feel like its gonna burn me to the grund.
Hugs faithful27 and all.
I used to have a lot of coconut oil but that is quite irritating for me. At the moment I just have to make do with a low fat diet.
