Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
Has anyone else noticed this? I've been suffering with gastritis for about eight months now. It's hard to tell whether I'm healing or not because the symptoms seem to evolve. It's like I'll have symptom A then that will go away but then symptom B will appear.
For instance, it started with horrible heartburn, then that evolved to gnawing pain below the breastbone plus nausea and fake hunger pains, then it was kind of like a film was over my stomach between meals and chest tightness, then it was low abdominal cramps and left side pain, now it's left side pain, feeling in the throat and pressure behind the breastbone?
What gives? How can I ever know if I'm better if my symptoms keep changing? To make matters worse (or better?) I saw a new doctor who believes I don't have gastritis but instead have acid reflux. I want to trust him because that seems more manageable I just don't know what gives.

In time it will become clear which is which. Perhaps keep a journal for a while and see if any patterns emerge.
Yes Lou my doctor told me today he would do another endo if I wanted but that he thought my results from my first endo "didn't show any more inflammation than what a regular person would have" then why am I in pain?
He's started me on a ppi, says to take it four weeks and see. I've never taken one and I know they're not popular on here but I needed to try something else. At least now I've been warned about the rebound
It does sound like a mixture of reflux and gastritis. Sometimes the reflux can be worse and vice versa. The breastbone thing, tightness etc sounds like an inflamed esophagus from past heartburn. Sometimes you can feel it in the back as well.
just keep working at the diet part. that is the key.
I suffer from gastritis, GERD and IBS, and they all give me different pains but are separate issues and I find different foods help some but not others
