Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
Don't give up hope.
The moment you do that...that's when the negativity in your mind...starts wreaking havoc upon your body.
You will likely be told not to have dairy, gluten, eggs, shellfish, pinenuts, and treenuts. This is all about food allergy/sensitivity. You'll have to work with an allergist and nutritionalist
to work foods back into your diet.
Trust me...I get feeling afraid.
But I promise...provided you follow the proper bland diet for a few months at the very least....
there's light at the end of the tunnel.
However...you truly have to adhere to this diet.
You cannot fall off the wagon without consequence.
There was a time I thought I was going to die. Truly.
I thought that this was the end of my life happening...
I lost so much weight...was so frail, disheartened..
I was giving up on myself.
Then something clicked...and I had to retrain my thought process.
I prayed...a lot.
I put my faith where it belonged...and kept striving to get healthy.
And I am still doing this. I am not 100% where I can eat whatever I please...but I'm introducing things very, very, very slowly.
It's a learning process.
Keep your chin up. You're worth it to fight for your life to be healthy.
Just keep reminding yourself that this too shall pass.
Because it will.
mmw73 you are right in that negativity wreaks havoc especially when you lose weight as you think the worst! I have totally lost my appetite. I have not gone back to the docs, I had the camera 5 years ago for gastritis. I have a feeling this maybe Hiatal Hernia, I notice you are have put that down.
BLH123 I can go for weeks with no symptoms then if I am silly it will come back. I am actually thinking of going all organic and see a nutritionalist. All illnesses are caused by inflammation and I get my head bombarded with info I research on the net and in books as to what to eat alkaline to assist with healing. Maybe a one to one professional is the way forward if you can afford to do it. If I go back to the doc, she will give me PPIs and book me for the camera then more PPIs so I am holding off to see if I can do it myself. I suppose I am lucky in one way as when I get the wind up and calm the heartburn down I actually feel ok, I remember when I was on the gastritis site a couple of years ago, I became friends with a group of ladies whom I still to this day email as they have become friends. One lives in Florida and is lovely, I live in England but the poor girl was in agony all the time. Another was in constant pain even at night in bed. So for any of you in constant pain, stay on here and we can come up with different ideas.
Glad to be back on and meet new friends even though I would rather not.
