Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
Does anyone use Ensure? I've lost so much weight and been so sick that I drink one each day. It's about the only thing that is keeping me from totally being empty.
Also, they gave me Protinex in the hospital today and it actually worked to stop the spasms. They gave me a script for it so I'm hoping to have good luck with it. I think I am going to quit the Carafate. I'm already constipated from the IBS.. don't need any more of that!

I know people who literally live on ensure/boost. 4 a day have good vitamins, carbs and protein.
Consider switching from Carafate to PepZin GI. It serves a similar purpose but has no side-effects.
