Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.

Endoscopy result: no gastritis

Finally had an endoscopy done today and the result showed that everything was fine from stomach to duodenum. No gastritis, inflammation, ulcers or anything else, stomach is perfect. I don't know what the fuck is wrong with me. I guess I'm relieved that I don't have gastritis but I wish I had a real diagnosis already.


I'm now going to have an MRI done of the small intestine. I hope they'll find something there that's curable. Gears of NHS turn so slowly and I have no idea when I'll finally get the MRI will probably take two weeks I guess. I'm expecting them to find something that prevents the efficient passage of food - like a subacute obstruction of some kind.


You guys have any advice or any insight into what this might be? Basically I bloat up big time after eating meals and I get frequent stomach aches all the time. I tried lactose and gluten free diets to no avail and my appetite has reduced by like 75%. The only thing that makes me feel better is not eating. If I eat like how I used to (I.e. A normal healthy diet) I bloat up like you wouldn't believe and get bad stomach aches.ive been this way since mid March. Its horrible and I'm sure you know the feeling.

if stomach aches is the worst pain you have..... trust me, you are very lucky. You could have inflammation in your intestines or even an ulcer that could cause those symptoms....I'm not a doctor, let them go through their tests, they'll find something. What can you eat that doesn't cause your symptoms?

Well my doctor is telling me I have irritable bowl syndrome, which is the NHS's way of saying I'm screwed. Nothing can really be done about this. I got some bad food infection and it has disrupted the balance of the bacteria in my gut and now 'bad' ones have taken over apparently.

I am now doomed to a lifetime of constant bloating and stomach pain. Apparently there are diets that help, like low fodmap or something, but all I can do is treat it rather than cure.

The only slight silver lining is that some people that get post infectious ibs do recover from it, apparently 65% within 3 to 5 years, so we'll see. I guess I am marginally better than I was 5 months ago, so maybe that's a sign I'm improving.

On the plus side, at least you've had your scope. I have to suffer on until mine in Ovtober because my doctor is away all of September. Don't know if I'm gonna last until then.

It sounds like you have SIBO. It's diagnosed with a breath test, though they aren't always accurate. I recommend getting tested for it.
