Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.

What price are people paying after insurance for an endoscopy? I thought I had good insurance but I think I paid like 1600 for my endoscopy after insurance. They use an anethesialogist. I guess all endoscopies are the same way. Thoughts?

Is that US dollars??? If so, that's outrageous! With my insurance all I pay is $200, includes anesthesiologist.

Depends on your out of pocket deductible. Did you go out of network?
Were you pre-approved? All these things affect what you have to pay. Good news is you probably met your deductible.for the year. I live in PA too. I qualified for Medicaid this year so I paid nothing. Next year who knows.

I guess I need to call the doctor and get prepared. I go back to the doctor in like 4 weeks for a follow up....if I make it that long.

My doc listens to what I say, and no matter what my complaint may be she says, "OK. See you in three months." Of course there are a nice handful of meds called in to the pharmacy. I've tried many medications and supplements for this, the only thing that seems to work for me is a careful adherence to diet, patience, and time. It's a good thing my endoscopy didn't cost anything, because it showed nothing, The GI doctor said everything was perfect. Great. So why am I hurting? He says go visit his colleague, the gallbladder surgeon. When all else fails, start cuttin' out organs, apparently. Nope.
