Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
How long did you have gastritis and how long have you been on nexium? Do you know what caused your gastritis?
Have you had pizza or beer? Lol it's perhaps what I miss the most...
alcohol caused it, and poor diet. drinking on an empty stomach, etc.
I've been on nexium a long time, almost the entire time i've been sick, at least two years, or close to that i would think.
have had no pizza or beer, won't be drinking as it was a problem for me before. and pizza..i wish but i won't try that until I'm quite confident.
i can eat 2200 cal a day w/o making mine worse but i think i hit a plateau in terms of healing bc of this. I only take pepzin gi btw and slipery elm.
john 2 years on nexium is a long time did you figure out why it took so long? i know when i was on neium i wasnt at some point... healing bc i made my stomach work hard w/ rough meals and too many of em with little acid it just inflamed it again and again of course i felt no pain bc there was no acid.
@serenityalways taper slowly n ull be back to normal. I have almost no reflux now no cough no acidic mouth and i can sleep lying flat w/o being proped up having very low acid for a long time can be very bad for some of us and the damage made can take a while to heal but itll come back to normal.
I wonder where andy1986 is and how he is doing. this dudes advice helped me so much i hope he is doing ok im worried about him havent seen him in a while.
Well yesterday was our family gathering. I ate some chocolate candies and was fine! Woo so happy about that. This morning I ate a bunch of cinnamon honey with crackers and I thought the cinnamon might do me harm but I was fine. That stuff is so good. I read online that cinnamon is good for digestion and inflammation after, as I was a bit scared so I did some research.
I would recommend honey to anyone. It's nice to have something sweet, its a good source of easy calories that won't bloat your stomach, and it helps soothe the stomach. I mix three tablespoons into my hot oatmeal and let it sit in my stomach without drinking water for at least an hour.
Gusko- honestly I'm not worried about being on Nexium for a long time. I know some people have problems with it, but I think sometimes they might be confusing other causes with it. Personally it hasn't bothered me at all and it was a lifesaver.
Gwen- script for wine lol! You know though I tried Marijuana for my stomach and it was seriously magic. I swear Harry Potter himself must have cast a spell. My stomach felt so much better, and even days after it seemed to have a lasting effect. Plus, laughing and feeling happy aren't bad side effects! Though unfortunately for me other healthy problems don't allow me to use weed and I so I just have to heal with natural healing now. So sad, cause it worked so good.
Other than that, i've been eating chicken and steamed veggies all week, tofu, almonds, cashews, avacados, and lots of honey. as well as my usual bananas/crackers/oatmeal. Really loving that I can eat more. We got lots of snow here just before christmas and i spend an hour at a time shoveling mounds of the stuff and wasn't even sick after, even though I worked myself pretty hard. shovelling is so rough on the stomach too. I hope I'm good to go by spring so I can get the farm up and going!
Best healing to everyone and Merry Christmas!
