Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.

Anyone take this? And if so, does it help with your gasritis symptoms? My symptoms vary form day to day (both in dominant symptoms and in severity) that I cannot tell if it's helping. On the flip side, is there any harm in taking it?

Hi lu2013,I have some of the DGL Licorice but I haven,t took much of it as you can,t take it the same time as meds. I can only tell you what it is suposed to do. Its suposed to increase mucus in the stomach and protect it. You could look it up. I should imagine that you have to keep taking it regularly for a few weeks to assess if it is making any difference. If it doesn,t interfere with any meds try it and see for a month then post your results.
The only harm is if it is not DGL as it can affect blood pressure,if I remember right.

I've been using it, but don't see any results. The best thing to take for me is Digestive Enzymes. Right now I'm using Digest Platinum by Now.

That's not too encouraging. :-(
I'm trying it again before each meal...especialy if nothing to lsoe. Ate a bit too much Sat night and now I"m so nauseous again...and going away in a couple days so need to feel better. Ugh. Trying Zantac too and I have a PPI that I may start in a couple days for something stronger.

I started taking DGL (Enzymatic Therapy brand) about 2 weeks ago, took about 3-4 pills per day, before food and before bed. I think it helped. I felt better, but I was concerned that the fructose or sorbitol were causing lower intestinal issues. So I switched to the fructose-free version, and the next day terribly bloated and sore tongue for a day. Called the company and was told that to make up for the lack of fructose in the fructose-free variety, they doubled the sorbitol. Ugh. I haven't taken any DGL at all for a few days and I'm not feeling as good as I did when I was on it. Still have IBS symptoms in addition to gastritis, so I don't think the original DGL was causing that.

I got some DGL licorice and it says to take it only one pill twice a day. Ive not kept it up because of taking the meds but may try it again inbetween. Has anyone taken it the same time as Slippery elm?
