Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
Kinda like how you feel after a bruise is healing? But overall, I'm starting to feel much better.
I got off Omeprazole and Zantac 2 days back.
Of course, sticking to a strict diet helps a lot!
How long were you on the Omeprazole? Alot of people here say the rebound from stopping these meds is horrific... Just wonderign what your experience is.
I supposed on the 9th day, I woke up and didn't feel tummy pains? So I popped just one that morning and went about my day. Of course eating several small meals a day helps a lot. So my stomach wasn't really empty and there was always something for the acid to work on!
Come nighttime, not much pain so I didn't take the night dose and the next day I didn't need to take it anymore.
Besides that, so far so good, thank God.
I guess everyone is different & it depends on cause, severity, area affected etc. Just my gut (ha ha) feeling though.
In my case, I just didn't want to be on PPIs any longer so I tried not taking it to see how it'd go. Right now I'm just in PepZin GI, DGL and probiotics. And a good diet. So far so good.
But I don't think coffee will be a part of my life anymore.
